iPod nano(first generation) battery life

hello,
i just purchased a refurbished ipod nano (white, 2 GB) online. i was wondering how long does the battery last? Although it says that it can stand for 14 hours, but it seems to die out pretty fast. so, i just wanna make sure if it is true that the battery can last for 14 hrs. Help please!!!

The iPod battery indicator is only a very loose approximation of how much charge there actually is left.

The battery life depends on how you use the iPod. And it's anything up to 14 hours of use, everyone uses it differently. 14 hours isn't written in stone.

Can I make the meter more accurate?
