Backlight replacement on older 20" Cinema display

After I replaced the inverter board in my Apple 20" cinema display, the blinking has stopped, but the top part of the screen is dimmed. It looks like I have to replace the backlight itself. I ordered the necessary parts and now have everything I need to do the job... except instructions on how to go about it.

Does anyone know where I can find instructions on how to replace the backlight bulbs? I've looked around for a while but cannot seem to locate anything. Any help appreciated.

Thanks! That's exactly what I was looking for. I had seen it a while back but was unable to remember where. Even though the insides of my 20" Cinema display look a little bit different than what's shown in the document (which is for the 22") I think the info is good enough for me to attempt the repair.

My symptoms originally were as follows: power light blinking in the dreaded short-short-long-pause pattern, and bottom part of the screen appearing dimmer than the top. After researching this issue, I came to the conclusion that it had to be the inverter board. I ordered a replacement from MoniServ:

Replacement was incredibly simple but somehat time-consuming because of the 27 or so screws that had to be removed. With the new inverter board, the flashing of the power button stopped, but now the top part of the screen was dimmed! The only thing I could think of doing at that point was to change the backlight itself. I ordered the kit from MoniServ (MS26450 CCFL-MS26450), and that's where I am now. Thanks to the PDF file you have pointed me to, I will attempt to change the lights on my display.

If your display is totally dark, you may have another problem.

Thanks again for your help and Happy New Year!
