Is overnight charging safe for iPhone 7 ?

Apple advises that you can charge your iPhone whenever you like. The battery cannot be overcharged and it will not suffer any harm from regular charging, including overnight. Charging will stop automatically when the battery is fully charged and start again if and when required due to ongoing battery usage.

Be sure to follow Apple's guidance - including the important safety and handling instructions - when charging your iPhone, including using a genuine Apple Lightning to USB Cable or an MFi-certified third-party cable. Apple also recommends using the Apple USB Power Adapter that came with your iPhone (or another compatible Apple power adapter):

Overnight charging is fine for iPhones. They stop charging at 100% so they will not overcharge. While your iPhone is charging and locked, it will do things such as processing your photo library to create Memories, object recognition, and if you're connected to Wi-Fi and have iCloud backups enabled, this will also occur overnight. I've had much better luck with iPhone batteries than any Samsung batteries, so I understand where you're coming from.
