Dear reader/helper,
I'm supposed to be sent book files designed with quark express 6.5 in 2006, to put together the translation of a book. I checked and it looks like it'll crash on my devices (old MacBook OS10.8, or last iPad Pro). Should the person convert the files before hand or can I do it myself and how?

in which application are you going to do the translation please; in QuarkXPress itself?
If yes, use the free QuarkXPress Document Converter to convert the v6.5 files to be able to open them in QuarkXPress 2016.
From within QuarkXPress 2016 you can also convert text boxes as Word, RTF, Plain Text, HTML and so on.

first you need to convert the files. You find the free QuarkXPress Document Converter here:
http://www.quark.com/Support/Downloads/Details.aspx?fid=289
It can convert one file or batch convert the files. It will create a copy and not overwrite your original.
Afterwards you can open the file(s) with QuarkXPress 9, 10, 2015 and 2016.
