My computer shows errors, yet it keeps charging me!

It all started around 7:40ish on Christmas Morning. I got on wanting to see what new iTunes were on, and so I looked around, found a few I wanted, and started clicking purchase, and continued browsing for other ones.
Then an error thing popped up.

Could Not Purchase Song
The network connection timed out
make sure your network settings are correct and your network is active, then try again.

So I skipped the other things it told me, since I didn't have this problem yesterday and I hadn't uploaded anything except for an iPod update for my sad Ipod shuffle; and I tried again. Same thing. Again. And again. It didn't work.
So fed up, I downloaded that Killers song, almost sure it wouldn't work. But it did.
And then I noticed that after downloading one song, my money from my gift cards that had once been $15.04 was now $11.82.
And still no sign of the first song I tried downloading.
Has anyone else had this problem?

what a bummer, ive been very patient too, doing my homework, reading everything and still nothing, i get the 'timed out message too' maybe just maybe the site is a bit busy or crashed or something simple like that, i'd hate to think it's on me end. judging from what i've tried i dont believe it is. My Nano is green, and green is a sour Apple. Im gonna give em a week to rippen this thing...

i have the exact same problem. i just kept going to the top toolbar and clicking "store", then "check for purchases". the error kept popping up. i exited itunes, then started it again. still, the error kept showing. just keep repeating the first step (the clicking store, then check for purchases). after about 50 clicks later, i got to download it. just be patient, i think that everyone is on the music store today! hope that helps...

Dito to everything that has been said so far. What a rubbish Christmas for everyone that's had this as a gift!! Luckily, my iPod is working fine (managed to d/load a couple of things) but it suddenly screwed up this afternoon. I've had the "we're sorry we cannot complete your request on the iTunes Store this time", all the "network" and "timing out" error messages too.

I've also been charged for songs that have never arrived. Classic. Oh, and we have no phone number to contact anyone!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS FOLKS!! haha

Looks like we are all having the same issue, regardless of computer type. I've been online all day trying to get this to work. I got a gift card and it keeps telling me it's no longer active after it just charged it, and then it charges it again! I'm sick of paying double for these songs, especially when it only shows charging me once on my purchase screen. Has anyone heard from Apple on this??? I hope you all are having a good holiday outside of all this mess.

I just tried to download the comlete U2 for $150. I was charged and I have no songs to chow for it. It kept timing me out every time I tried to do something. After many tries, I was able to report the problem.

Go to the Account menu on the iTunes main page, then go to Purchase History. Then click the report problem button. Then click on the report problem link next to the song(s) you didn't get. It will open up a window and you need to select the problem and hit the submit button. If you get an error, then hit the botton again. It tok me many tries to get this to work.

Only then will Apple address your problem. You will get an email to confirm your submission. If you don't, then it didnt work and you have to do it again.

I am a die hard Apple user, but I since I am also a diehard U2 fan, I am extremely upset that this happened on Christmas day!
