Car parked notification never works

I have 7+, ios 10.2...

I would love to have the Car Parked location notification but I cannot get it to work. I have reviewed the support document on Apple Support site, and despite all settings being correct, the notification never goes off.

The location is mapped correctly on my Maps app, but I have to load that app up manually every time and tap Parked Car. I'm envious of others who have this feature working normally and would like to have the same.

Anyone have any ideas that aren't in this guide? How to find your parked car with Maps on your iPhone - Apple Support

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities for this issue, pdroth.
After reviewing your post, it appears that you're unable to use the Parked Car feature in Apple Maps. Great job in locating the correct article for this issue and confirming that everything is set up correctly. I'll be glad to help.
iPhone User Guide - Location Services -- Turn Location Services off.

Turn Location Services on or off. Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services.

Set up and use third-party Bluetooth accessories

Disconnect a Bluetooth accessory

To temporarily disconnect the accessory, go to Settings > Bluetooth, and tap User uploaded file next to your Bluetooth accessory. Then tap Disconnect.

then Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch -- Once the device has returned to the Home screen, re-enable Location Services and pair your phone with your automobile again and test.

Let me know how that goes and have a great day!

Hey, pdroth! Thank you for letting us know. We do have another process for you to use to get it working.
How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch -- Before you begin, please be sure to have a fresh backup of your device to keep your personal information safe.
Restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to factory settings -- This process will completely wipe the iPhone to allow a fresh copy of the iOS software to be installed.
The first time through, select "Set up as a new iPhone". Feel free to sign into iTunes & App Store and iCloud and sync the information you need to use to your phone. Test the issue once again. If everything is working as it should, use the "Restore from a backup" link located in the "Get Help" section. If it isn't, under the same section, "Contact Apple Support".

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities!

I tried the steps outlined above exactly as you stated, and I'm still not receiving the notification when I park my car at any location I travel to. I understand this notification may not go off at places that I frequent, so I tried using it a nearby shopping mall and one other location I've never been to before and still this will not work.

Hi, sorry for the long delay before replying. I hadn't traveled to a new location until yesterday and wasn't able to test this.

I've tried what you asked - I removed the Maps app, then added back. I still do NOT have this functionality. No notification pops up if I park at a new location and walk away from my vehicle. I do not even see Parked Car on my list of locations anymore, but I do see the pin on the map if I zoom into the location where I parked.

I'm open to any more suggestions you have.

I appreciate you trying to help, but unfortunately this solution caused me a LOT of grief. And, it didn't fix the problem.

I have corporate email on my phone, which requires me to encrypt my backup in iTunes. Upon restoring the phone, I lost the email access since I needed a new access key sent, and this caused me to miss important and timely emails. Not your fault, but certainly this has to be kept in mind before suggesting to someone they wipe and restore a phone.

It would be nice if Apple can figure out a fix for this. I think I've spent enough time trying to fix it myself. 🙂
