Dual mono vs true stereo

Hi, the distributor we need to send our master to cannot accept dual mono audio, it needs to be stereo. We had to remix some music and think we have true stereo and NOT dual mono. But is there any way to double check to make sure the project is stereo and NOT dual mono. The only way we have to check is by checking the right and left audio meters, my understanding is that if the meters match than it's dual mono, but if they're dynamic and not always identical than it's stereo. Is there another way to check this? We're using final cut 7. Thanks
