Screen is back and white! Help

Hi guys, so I've had nothing but back luck on my project MacBook Pro I recently got for basically nothing, now I know why. I bought it and it did not have a hard drive or RAM which I thought was strange, However I still got it just because of the price. I bought new RAM 2 4gb and a Samsung SSD 850evo. Now here's the issue it does not have any kind of OSX mavericks or El Capitan installed, would I see anything once I booted the MacBook Pro? Well here is the picture of what I see now. Do I need to replace the screen too?

Which Mac is this exactly? More information would be helpful for getting it going.

Display does not look good. Do you have an external display you can try? If the external is OK, then the problem is with the internal display or its connection. If the external looks the same, you may be looking at a logic board problem having to do with the graphics chip or its driver.

Do you have access to an Apple Store? They could provide an external display if you don't have one and run a comprehensive hardware test for you so that you know exactly what you are dealing with here.

With no OS installed, you might expect to see something like a flashing question mark or maybe something else. Here is a link to an article on startup screens:

Try an external and see what happens with it.

Good luck!

Actually, just remembered that model number was used for 17" Macs from early 2009 to late 2011, so Internet Recovery may or may not work on it. Apple Store might be able to pin down exactly which one it is, which would determine how best to go forward.

By all means post back with whatever you find.

Good luck!
