movies not correct aspect ratio

Recently, some of the movies I purchased in the ITunes store were not displaying in their correct aspect ratios.

These movies filled my 16 X 9 screen which means they had been enlarged with the sides cut off.

(No movie has ever been filmed in 16 X 9)

Movies should only be sold and presented as their makers intended.

This trend is disturbing and Apple reps seem to be oblivious to the issue.

I know there are people (who probably live in Orange County) who hate those "black bars".

They think they are missing part of the picture when the exact opposite is true.

I think of the Apple community as being more sophisticated then the general public, so what can Apple do to correct this issue?

I'm afraid you don't understand the issue.

Movies being sold in ITunes are NOT always in their correct aspect ratio.

If the studio is changing the aspect ratio, the aspect ratio being sold in the store should be indicated on Apple web site (ITunes).

"Widescreen" is a meaningless term since movies have been filmed in many aspect ratios.

When movies are hacked by the studio, or who ever, visual data is lost.

No setting on your apple TV or TV is going to replace that missing data.

Your answers are superficial and display your lack of knowledge in this area.

Consider researching aspect ratios (there is a great video on you tube) and then perhaps you will understand the issue.

Or maybe you just don't want to.

They are.

Are they? Apple sells movies exactly as they are given to them by the studios.

so what can Apple do to correct this issue?

Nothing to correct.

You should check how your Apple TV and your television are set to display
