Yes. Tap one of the apps (ie Coles, Uber etc) until it starts to shake and then delete it by touching the 'x' in the top left corner of the app. Download the app again and it will recognize the new email address.
The problem was the apps had been downloaded with the old email address and so didn't recognize the new email address so by deleting them and then downloading them again fixes the problem.
Yes I'm trying to update apps but the old email appears and it asks for the password.
"When you go to Settings>iTunes & App Store, is that old ID signed in there?" No it's not. The new email address is there.
What do you mean by that? What is happening that is causing you to say that you "have an old email address in the app store"? Are you trying to update apps? When you go to Settings>iTunes & App Store, is that old ID signed in there? Need some clarification on what you are experiencing in order to help.

Deggie is correct.
If you didn't change your AppleID email but rather created a new one instead, you'll have to delete all the apps you downloaded with the old AppleID and download them all again with the new one.
Otherwise it will always prompt you for your old AppleID.
FYI, you can change your AppleID rather than create a new one:
Settings → iTunes & App Store → Tap the Apple ID on the top → Tap Sign Out
Then Sign back in with your new email
If you changed your email in your AppleID then:
click Account - Edit
You should be able to see a list of your emails there and delete the old one.
your Apple ID is stored in two places. Going to the iTunes and App Store and the phone settings, click on your ID, then sign out.
Next going to iCloud tab in settings scroll to the bottom sign out.
There's only one email there and that's the correct one.
Apps are forever linked to the Apple ID used to acquire them. If you want to use the newer Apple ID then delete the apps and download them again with the new one.
Thanks to everyone who has tried to help it's appreciated.
The problem has now been solved by an apple employee.🙂
Can you share how it was fixed?
I am glad you got it fixed. Thanks for follow up. Take care
