original file could not be found issue.

I have iTunes match. When I try to play the first song in a playlist I get "the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" because all my music is on my external drive. When I click cancel it then plays the song from the cloud, but stops after that song. I have experimented by double clicking each song in a playlist and then clicking cancel. If I then try to play the playlist they all play in a row. I have a couple thousand songs stored with match, so I don't want to do this thousands of times.

Is there an easy fix? The vast majority of my songs were uploaded (not matched). They are mostly downloaded concerts (legally, through nugs.net).

I'm trying to get iTunes to use match to play my music on my mbp instead of using my external drive. How can i fix this?

p.s... it plays whole playlists and albums on my iPad.

p.s.s. ... I also asked this in the match thread...

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6), Not ready to go to Sierra yet...
