My friend is running an old Mac operating system since she's concerned that her version of Sibelius, the music program that she uses more than anything else, won't work with Sierra, and apparently, upgrades to Sibelius are expensive. Does anyone know which versions of Sibelius work with MacOS Sierra? Thanks!!!
Sibelius 6.2.0 works just fine with Sierra 10.12.6...I fear High Sierra OS 11 will be its death knell
Sibelius 8.4.2 is the latest release and the only version that includes Sierra 10.12 in its requirements. Version 8.4.1 stops at El Capitan 10.11 with Sibelius version 8.4.1.
Your friend will need 1 GB of RAM free over the 4GB of RAM that macOS Sierra wants (despite Apple claiming 2GB). On the Avid product link, click the product name : general version number : specific version number to get the requirements.

On my computer Sibelius First 7.13 works with macOS Sierra, but I have learnt to save before computer goes to sleep. Several times audio has stopped working after waking up. Then Sibelius First does not respond to user interaction. Force quit is needed.
I can tell you from experience that Sibelius 6 will not work with Sierra--much to my dismay.
Actually, in my experience, Sibelius 6.2.0 works fine in Sierra, while 7.5.1 has minor problems (but mostly works).
But the new part 2 of my question is how about High Sierra? I'm assuming the answer "fat chance" is probably the most likely.
I've had absolutely zero problems running Sibelius 6.2.0 in Sierra. High Sierra remains to be seen.
