"Rebuffering Stream/Opening URL" Whilst listening to podcasts

I've listened to podcasts via iTunes for over a year now on my macbook air. As of a few days ago, iTunes will only play 10-30 seconds of a podcast before it freezes and a "rebuffering stream / opening URL" notice pops up. No matter how long I wait, the podcast doesn't resume so I have to manually press "stop" on the notice and try to play the podcast again.

-The podcasts I listen to aren't downloaded: I tried to download one now, and it will start, but never finishes

-My iTunes is up to date (as is my mac software)

-I cleared my iTunes cache

-I have memory space on my computer/my mac typically runs smoothly and quickly

-I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting to my wifi

-I've tried restarting iTunes and logging in and out of my iTunes account

-I've tried restarting my computer

Please help! This is so frustrating and I can't find a solution online. Thank you!

Hi Bail3y18,

I understand that recently when you try to play a podcast in iTunes on your MacBook Air, they only play for up to 30 seconds before stopping. I'm happy to help troubleshoot this issue with you.

I would recommend using safe mode and a new user account to isolate this issue further. Note that in safe mode your speakers may be disabled, so when testing this you may only be able to test this based on the playtime and not the actual audio.
