iOS 10.2.1 iPhone 6 brightness problem right after updating

So I always update to the newest version of iOS for improvements etc. but I am certainly going to stop doing that after this awful experience ...

1 hour ago I downloaded & installed iOS 10.2.1 from iOS 10.2 to my iPhone 6.Right after updating the brightness would only change from 1-50% from 50-100% the brightness would not change at all.Apple support in my country told me that they cannot fix that and I have to contact the higher end apple support ?!?!

Im certainly most dissapointed that they didn't even test the iOS for older devices if there are any VERY OBVIOUS bugs like this one ....

How do I fix this now please help me ! I got told I can't downgrade to iOS 10.2 without losing all my data :/

I have the same issue with my iPhone 6s 64gb MKQA2LL/A.

After upgrade to iOS 10.2.1, when battery goes below 75% and 50% - suddenly my display dims and I can't change it back. Brightness slider is on 100%, but screen is dim and it feels like 50%.

Below 75% battery it dims to 70% of brightness and below 50% battery it dims to 50% of brightness.

Besides, if you try to increase brightness, nothing changes from this percentage of the brightness bar (try to split it to %).

There are 2 solutions, how you can fix it till you wait an update from Apple:

1st: Settings --> Display and Brightness --> Display Zoom. (Temporary solution.)

Switching display zoom from Standard to Zoomed and back will fix the problem until the next battery point (below ~50% and ~75%).

2nd: Downgrade to 10.2.

It is great there is a fix. That shows Apple knows there is a problem and are working to address it. It would be nice if when people call about the problem the service providers contacted would not try to act like it is the customer's phone itself that is a problem. There is no telling how many people have thrown their hands up and bought the 7 or 7 Plus so that they do not have to deal with their display constantly dimming at precise battery percentage times on the older phones. If there was a better avenue of communication for reporting problems that is made apparent to all at time of purchase Apple would know that there could indeed be a million people with the exact same problem. No telling how many have already bought the latest phone just due to being fed up with this screen dimming bug on their older phone.

Except, you see, the issue is that GreenOzone was violating the Non-Disclosure Agreement that was signed when they agreed to test Beta Software.

Beta software is not just software that addresses a single fix, but a variety of other potential fixes, enhancements, and Security Updates.

Because this is Beta Software, the information surrounding it is limited to the beta testing group, so that incompletely tested or fluctuating processes are not willy-nilly shared with people outside the beta process.

So, until the Beta testing is over, and the overall release which may include a fix for the issue you are reporting, has been tested for all of the changes included in the Beta, and is in a form which can be distributed to the public as a formal release, there aren't speculations about what will be in it.

People can make the best decisions for themselves as to whether the momentary lower brightness is enough of a hardship to need to purchase a new phone.

This is a support community for others to share their experiences and offer support. You are sounding like someone who is monitoring this thread portraying yourself to be a customer like the rest of us since your input does not offer support but instead tells people they are violating signed documents and shoots people like me down for being unhappy with an obvious software bug.

I found your earlier post replying to my temporary fix. So not certain why you or anyone else would reply to dissatisfied customers telling them to get on with their lives. It is obvious Apple employees are monitoring this thread and saying negative things to people looking for help. It is so unprofessional. This forum is a joke and completely useless. I will no longer rely on this forum at all.

Sorry to see this thread is offending some people but it's causing more problems than just inconvenience.

For instance, it takes about 2min to cycle through process the Zoom and back to standard. Having to do this when the phone goes dim on my daily commute rendering my iphone GPS virtually useless not to mention driving with it more dangerous since I can barely see it during daylight. Also the phone STAYS dim while plugged into my car.

thanks friends. my problem is -the phone does not start -open the screen- as the battery has run down completely and I am unable to charge it,I contacted Apple -said iPhone 6 was not supported (hardware) anymore, and so returned without repairing. Now only option is to scrap it ; go for better brand like Samsung etc who have good customer support.

Hi,

I have done that in the past. The problem is you have to keep doing it.

I would like to know when Apple is going to fix this bug.

No telling how many people have gone out and bought the newest iPhone due to being frustrated with the extremely long time it is taking them to fix the problem. Since it did not affect the majority it seems the rest of us do not matter. I refuse to buy the latest iPhone because of a bug they allowed into their latest update. If the problem is not going to be corrected soon or at at all I wish they would just go ahead and say they are not going to so that I can purchase an Android phone that does not constantly brighten and dim and that I do it have to constantly apply the workaround you mentioned following all of those steps until I feel like throwing my phone up against a brick wall.

I was singing Apple's praises for years saying I would never go back to Android. I am so very, very disappointed.

Thank you! I hope the 10.3 will clear up my problem. I will let you all know. This brightness problem has been the only experience I have dealt with that was adverse with Apple. It went on way too long and I could not get any assistance with my problem or any answers as to when or if it would be fixed. If this update is the fix then I will be one happy customer.

My phone is back to normal! I can not tell you how happy I am! All they had to do was say 'we are working on it' and I would have waited patiently. Instead I became very disappointed and was ready to turn my back on Apple. Thank you Apple for taking care of that horrible bug. Thanks for your message Christian. I hope your evening is a good one.

Does anyone knows if this was fixed in the 10.3.2 update?

That's one of the reasons I hate updates and only do it after something stop working. Now I have to keep going to "display zoom", this is ridiculous and annoying!

I can only think this is a bug since we can't turn it off and have to improvise. Apple doesn't address the issue even though there are so many complains about it, this is sad...
