Word files saved in iPad cannot be attached to email app

My wife is a school teacher and lot of her work involves working on word files and school's email. Microsoft word on iPad saves the documents in folder named iPad. However, when she opens the mail app and wants to attach the document she cannot find it! Because when you press add attachment it opens iCloud drive. Also when she wants to save the word document in iCloud drive it does not show while saving. Currently she has send the mail to another account, open in macbook (which is mine with different iCloud account) , then send it from there.

Anybody can help with this?

Either the word app should be able to save the docs in iCloud drive or the email app should be able to access the iPad storage.

Need help for this.

iPad Pro 9.7-inch WiFi, iOS 10.2.1

You need to click the "share" button from the document when you open it in the email.

When you get a document in an email press to view the document. The "share" button (box with arrow) should be

on bottom left (on iPhone). Select and you should see the options to save in iCloud or email right from the document. If you choose iCloud you should have the option to choose a folder.

When trying to attach from Microsoft Word, start in the Word app not Email app. You should see a "share" or "forward" selection that will bring up similar results.

Sorry I am not more discriptive. I use Apple iWorks version for word processing, called Pages. iPads sold after 2013 it comes free installed. Check in your App Store and download. It is like having both Microsoft and and an Apple friendly word processor, all in one!

You can open .doc files, edit or compose a new document, and then save it back to a Word format in iCloud Drive or share in email etc.

And there are a lot more editing options when it comes to photos in your documents. It is easier to acces your pics to import into documents as well.

To edit a document from iCloud you will have to download it first. If on iPad or iCloud.com, click to view or select, you should see the same "share" button in iOS and a cloud with an arrow down, on a computer if on iCloud.com.

Look for the option to open in Pages(apple office suite) or Office. Office option will only come up if it is installed on computer or device, otherwise it will default to Pages.

**Pages, Keynote & Numbers documents however can be editied right in iCloud.com.
