Could Not Add Card, cannot add a Suica card to my wallet

I can confirm that this works. Initially it failed to add the Suica card with an error message saying contact the vendor or something.

I went to the ticket office changed my name from romanji (English alphabet) to katakana. I also checked my telephone number and date of birth were correct (which they were).

Once I had updated the name on the Suica card to katakana I was then able to transfer it to my phone without any issues.

Some users have reported that, in order to add a Suica card to Apple Pay, the name on the card needs to be in katakana (or similar) rather than romaji and that this can be arranged at any JR ticket office.
