Iphone ringer icon keeps flashing on and off my screen

I have tried to soft reset. Turn phone off and on. I am not sure what to do. Since the last update this is been flashing on and off my phone every screen

looks like you're toggling the ringer silent physical switch (the one above the volume increase button.

If this persists, it might be a hardwre problem:

Take your iPhone to an Apple store or other Apple authorized service location to have this issue diagnosed.

Yes it does look like that. But I am not. I am not touching it. Have toggled back and forth to see if changing switch does anything. Does not help. I am pretty savvy with computers, but cannot figure this out. And it is very frustrating to have this go on and off.
