images numbers import as letters in image capture

Hello, recently when I connect my iphone to import my photos using image capture, the image numbers instead of being IMG_... (number) are instead a scrambled series of letters. I have done everything to try and figure this out and don't know how to resolve this. I have upgradeed my system softeware, restarted both iphone and computer, upgraded itunes, nothing works. There is no upgrade for image capture past the 6.8 that i currently have.

its actually weird because once in a while there will be an image number and then most are a series of letters.

IS the pixel size of these photos with scrambled numbers smaller than your iPhone photos are usually showing? Then these photos have probably been synced to your iPhone by shared photo albums. These saved photos usually have weird filenames and are slightly smaller than the photos taken directly with the iPhone.

I think they are smaller than usual? is this a setting on my iphone that I can change? I would like the files to be as large as possible for image quality and enlargement. I did shoot all of the photos directly with my iphone though.

I did not mean the file size in MB, but the pixel size - width and height.

A photo taken with the back camera of my iPhone will have a width and height of 3264 × 2448 pixels, but when I am seeing files with funny filenames in the import panel, the pixel size will be only half the size.

Should I also turn off summarize photos?

"Summarize Photos" does not modify the photos; it will just display less photos in the moments and collections.

Are you using photo editing extensions? Did you sync any photos to your iPhone using iTunes and edit these photos?

They are anywhere from 1.5 -3 MB in size

No then this is not the case, my images files are the right size and not too small. most are square in size and 3, 024 squared. its making me crazy I'm not sure what to do.
