Roxio easy VHS to DVD for mac

I have a copy of Roxio easy VHS to DVD which I've not used for some time. I have probably updated my OS since last using it. Now I can't get it to work - no video or audio previews. Does it work with El Capitan, or is there some tweak or update I need?

Thanks in anticipation of any help and advice.

This is the only Mac product I found (other than Roxio's) that was of the simple/inexpensive conversion process. For system requirements, it only says 10.6 or higher. Most of the reviews and questions about whether it works seem to top out at 10.8.x. No idea how well it will work with much newer versions of OS X / macOS. Even the company's site just says 10.6 or higher.

It's either that, or a converter box, such as the DataVideo DAC-200. Used is the only way to get these. DataVideo doesn't make any type of VHS converter anymore. They don't even list such a thing on their site. I have a DAC-100, which looks essentially identical. The main issue with these is they dump an uncompressed capture onto the drive (you can use QuickTime to capture the incoming signal). A couple hours of uncompressed 30fps video takes up gigabytes of space. So you need a LOT of room.

From there, you need to do something with it. Toast Titanium is one way to get the raw data encoded and burned onto a playable DVD.
