When I use my airpods with a cellular voice call the battery drains twice as fast as when I am listening to music. Is this normal? I have had reset my airpods and they still have the same behavior. I am only getting 1.5 hours using them on a phone call but 4+ hours when listening to music.
AirPods (single charge): Up to 5 hours listening time,(2) Up to 2 hours talk time(5)

I can confirm that talk time starts to limit just past the 2 hr mark per the link above.
Any word on whether putting an iPhone call on mute would extend the 2 hr "talk time" towards the 5 hr "listen time"?

I just used the mute option today on a conference call and my AirPods lasted less than 2 hrs. They were fully charged when I started and I used both at the same time.
