Microsoft Office 2011 Update

I received an automated update for Microsoft Office 2011. The latest version I have is 14.7.1 that I installed in December 2016. The newest update is 3.8.3 (appears to be an Office 2016 update); however, when I wanted to initiate the installation I received a message that I need to run Mac OS-X.10 or higher. I still run OS-X.9.

Does anyone know, if Microsoft has discontinued supporting Office 2011?

Support for Office for Mac 2011 ends on October 10, 2017.

The update notice you received (3.8.3) is for: Microsoft AutoUpdate (MAU)

what I found out after hours is that they are no longer issuing any updates for 2011 and you'd better get a newer version--it is about to get pretty funky.
