What is locking my downloads folder

Just today I have experienced, twice, my Downloads folder being locked. I have not locked it by any action I have knowingly taken. Something is locking it in the background, I suspect. Any ideas?

I'm running the last version of El Capitan (10.11.6).

I'm worried that this may indicate some sort of security breach or malware.
