Ipod and USB port issue

Hi,

I got my 5th gen ipod about 6-7 month ago and iam currently having issues with it. Everytime i connect my ipod to any USB2 or USB1 port on my computer , it only charges and the 'Do not disconnect' message doesn't appear. So , i tried different usb ports and nothing seemed to work ( although , my printers , camera are working fine ). THen , i thought it was the usb cable that was malfunctionning so i bought a new one which dind't do anything. Then , i thought it was my ipod ... so i went to my friends house and tried connecting with it with his computer : It worked perfectly. So the problem seems to be my usb port configuration that doesn't detect my ipod ( or maybe usb mass storage device ) and only seems to charge it...

i tried everything apple had on their support section and nothing seemed to help me out .

any clue ?

I have the exact same issue. For 4 days it connected to my computer and now it doesn't. i dont know why it doesnt mount up as a drive anymore. i even did a system restore to the day before i got my ipod and it still is the same.

I have deleted the USB driver and then connected the iPod in Hard Drive mode and the PC sees it then and I am able to restore it, but nothing changes.

I'm having the same issue with mine, too. It's a 60G iPod video, and while it has never connected to my brand new IBM, it works fine with my old Dell laptop. It took me four Apple tech support people and one guy from IBM to figure out that the problem is with the cable drivers, but no one can tell me where to find them. Any ideas?
