LG 27UD88-W (60W) vs MacBook Pro 15“ 2016 (87W) USB-C charging
Hi,
does anyone use a LG 27UD88-W (up to 60W of charging power) together with a 15“ Macbook Pro (late 2016)?
I’ve read a lot of controversial statements about the charging capability.
The 15“ MBP comes with a 87W USB-C Power Adapter.
I’m looking for a one USB-C cable solution für charging and display signal.
What are the consequences of using a 60W supply instead of a 87W one?
Does it only charge slower?
Or will it only slow down the rate the battery drains (under load)?
Is this a recommendable long-term solution?
Can it damage the battery or the display.
Does it reduce the battery lifespan over time?
Would it be better to use the 87W stock power supply?
That would remove the top selling argument for this display.
So the only solution for a 15“ mbp would be a LG UltraFine 5K display (85W charging power)?
