iCloud Safari tabs Missing on Mac

I just updated both my iPad Air and iPhone SE to iOS 10.2.1, and since then, Safari on my Mac is no longer showing any iCloud tabs for my iOS devices.

The iOS devices are both showing the Mac's browser tabs, and both showing each other's but on the mac, there's nothing in the area where they'd normally show.

The Mac is running MacOS X 10.10.5 Yosemite, and Safari 10.0.3 (10.0.2 was also effected).

Disabling all browser extensions has no effect. Switching iCloud tabs off and on on all 3 devices has no effect, logging the Mac out of iCloud and back in has no effect, rebooting the Mac has no effect.

All other iCloud functions like bookmarks and reading list work, as does Handoff, Continuity, Airdrop etc.

Any suggestions?

I added the button, but it's not a solution - normally, you hit the "Show All Tabs" button, and it'll give you a thumbnail view of all your tabs on the local machine, below which is a list of all other tabs on other devices.

That area where the list is supposed to be is blank, and after adding the iCloud Tabs button, clicking it just brings up an empty box with a description of what iCloud tabs are supposed to do.

Yup, and just did it again to be sure.

  • Switched it off, confirmed on both my iOS devices that the safari tabs from my mac were no longer showing up.
  • Waited a few minutes.
  • Turned it on, observed several minutes of sustained network traffic with multiple Apple servers by multiple processes - cloudd, syncdefaultsd etc.
  • Checked both iOS devices - the Mac's safari tabs are showing up again.
  • Checked the Mac's "All Tabs" button, only local tab thumbnails are shown, area below them remains blank.

I am have very similar issues to mattspace. Got new iphone 7, updated phone software to 10.2.1 before syncing/data transfer from itunes. Neither new iPhone nor MacBook shows iCloud tabs.

Funny thing is, signing into this community from Safari on new iPhone has corrected the issue on the iPhone. Not sure about MacBook as its's not here to check right now.

I'm having the exact same problem. Tabs show up on iOS devices, but I don't even have the option to add the iCloud Tabs to my Safari Toolbar. I've signed into iCloud on my Mac and I've turned Safari Sync off and on several times. Weird thing is, the tabs icon comes and goes. I remember last week having to put it back on my toolbar, it worked for a few days, and now its gone again.....So frustrating.

I'm having the same issue...

2012 MacBook Pro running 10.10.5

iPhone 7+ and iPad Air 2, both running 10.3

I can see tabs open on the Mac on both iDevices. I can't see tabs open on either iDevices on the Mac.

I've tried logging in/out of iCloud for extended periods of time on all devices. Same results.

During troubleshooting, I created a second partition, installed 10.12.4 on it, setup iCloud to see if it's an OS compatibility issue, and sure enough, iDevice tabs will appear in Safari on the Mac. So, it seems to be a compatibility bug with 10.5.X and iOS 10.X.

Permanently updating to 10.12.X is not a reasonable fix for me. I have far too many audio production apps that require me staying on 10.10.5. Besides, Handoff should work with my config, so....

this doesn't work...it's a shame that @Apple doesn't even chime in or address this issue...all they can say is "Upgrade?" this is nonsense. especially when most non-Apple people are quick to say that Apple pushes out update to break your devices to FORCE you to either update or upgrade.....WELL.....it sure looks like this is the case here...Especially when all system requirements are matched...but the "Apple Tech" does not...

Apple is NOT going to update 10.10.5 to 10.10.6....they are going to discontinue support for 10.10.x all together soon...

Which is a shame...really...Especially us professionals who are REQUIRED to stay on a STABLE OS for work...10.10 stable...10.11...essentially a beta for....10.12 😕...Now Apple is smoking.....10.13 High Sierra...

How about a simple safari iCloud tab fix/patch? Thats really all anybody wants...their stuff to (just) work (as it should and has before.) ***??

I've had this problem for a while as well. MBP on 10.10.5, Safari 10.1.2, devices up to date. iPhone and iPad have no problem seeing the Safari tabs on the Mac, but the Mac does not see any tabs on the devices. Same blank result as others have described when adding the iCloud Tabs button in the Safari toolbar.

I still get the extra Safari icon on the Mac toolbar with Handoff, which in turn brings up the webpage without issue. Just not in Safari with Show All Tabs.

Update:

I updated my iPad IOS to 11 and i am now seeing the open safari tabs from my iMac on my iPad, but the IOS on my phone is not updated and I do not see the iMac safari tabs. It looks to me that the mac OS and the IOS need to be synced to the same level.

Note: my phone can see the iMac tabs on my old iMac that hasn't had the OS updated yet.

Same problem, this is what I have:

My mac: Early 2011

MacOS: 10.12.6 Sierra

Safari: 11.0.1

iPhone: 5S

iOS: 10.3.3

I just upgraded my macOS from 10.12.5 to 10.12.6 in a hope that the upgrade will solve this problem. It did not.

Before 10.12.5, I had 10.9.5 on my MBP and it didn't work either. Both at that time and now, I could see all Safari tabs of Mac on my iPhone.

I just read the system requirement of Handsoff, and learned my mac is too old to be supported. Now I wonder if this has anything to do with that.

Any ideas?

I too have the same infuriating problem! I have to multi-task on my devices throughout the day. I've wasted yet another day on Google on a quest to seek higher learning from those much smarter than me. I have performed nearly every task given, even down to deleting com.apple.Safari file and restarting my mac twice. Nothing worked.

I couldn't say anything bad about Apple once, but now all I seem to do is troubleshoot. The tabs are the least of my problems.

I agree with you, Apple should include older models on fixes, or does Apple believe their computers should be as disposable as McDonald's wrappings?

I have enough work on my plate without Apple making my days longer and more difficult. Is it me? I seem to remember when Apple was a pleasure to work on.

Thank you all so much and I am so grateful I found you - I wasn't alone! I'm going to walk away from this problem that can't be solved and have a cup of tea!

Cheers!
