Messages not syncing with MacBook Pro

When replying to iMessages through Messages on my MacBook Pro, the messages are syncing but the name of the person is not. It's just giving me their phone number. On my iPhone 7, their name does appear.

How do I make it so that when the messages sync that their name is the one that appears on the message and not their phone number?

Thanks

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.1)

HI,

Check your contacts App is syncing with the iPhone.

This can be done in Contacts > Preferences > Accounts.

It should also only use one "service" to sync over.

You can also use System Preferences > iCloud and Internet accounts to turn On or Off options in various Accounts you have such as Yahoo and Google that also offer sync options.

If it does not appear to be the Mac Version check the iPhone is sending them to the sync service you are using.
