iCloud Drive is not updating on my iPad

iCloud Drive and sync is working fine on my laptop and on my iPhone. If I create a new file in my iCloud desktop folder, it uploads immediately, and can instantly be seen via the iCloud Drive app on my iPhone.

However since yesterday my iPad isn't showing new files, either via the iCloud Drive app, or via Manage Storage. I can only see and access older files there.

I have restarted the iPad and deleted and reinstalled the iCloud Drive app, but neither of these has fixed it.

(All devices have their OSes up to date (iPad is running 10.2.1) and all apps are updated.)

Many thanks to anyone who can shed light on this. I have about 1.4GB of space available on my 5GB iCloud Drive, and I haven't had any recent warnings about space. I've also cleared up a couple of hundred MB to see if that would help, but it hasn't.

Try Settings/iCloud and slide off syncing. Wait a few minutes and then resync.

Have you tried signing out of iCloud and then sign back in?

I've now tried this on my iPhone as it started having the same problems. It reinstalled the iCloud Drive app on my phone, but now I can only see the local files there. The main file tree, with my folders and files that are actually in the cloud, are not viewable or accessible.

Ironically, without having tried anything further on my iPad, iCloud Drive is now working/updating correctly on there again.

I'm mystified by all this, as you can imagine.
