not really, no. I used iMovie which is very picky about what it does and does not like, especially when importing video via FireWire, but yes, I can assure you that it does work. I don't know exactly what a PVW 2800 is, google sez it's a betacam player, so I'm guessing component outputs on that? apparently DV NTSC might work and iMovie might have problems recognizing external equipment, such as your Data Video DAC 15.
, and according to datavideo, this is a legacy product, so for mac, 4 and 5 should be up, (hey, you sunk my Battleship!)
and the rest are off. you could try changing the position of DIP switch 4 so that Smart DV is on. Plus you're using AVID Media Composer, which throws in a few more curveballs. Apparently you may need a driver from Keyspan for the Sony deck, (the PVW 2800) perhaps turn off bluetooth when starting up AVID. Also, consider updating to Mavericks if you can, and making sure you have enough RAM on board. I suppose that single processor might be a bit of a challenge, and that card is pretty old, too. AVID sez you need at least a dual 6 core "Westmere" running at 2.66 or better and a 5770 ati video card. It also notes that under Yosemite, it has known performance isssues with playback, render, and transcode of higher resolution material.minimum is a quad core Xeon with 16 gig minimum ram. You could run Media Composer 3.5 maybe. so....maybe, but I'd have to say, on a whim, the answer is "no"
