Is mac-forums.com legit?

As soon as I registered on mac-forums.com, a page followed saying that the site contains real police records etc. and I would have to click on a box to enter the site. I didn't. It was supposed to be a forum for Mac users.

Does anyone know anything about this site or how I can un-register?

Thanks,

Jody

It's not associated with Apple in any way if that's what you are asking.

The Forum owners can establish any rules they see fit for users of their forum. Like most online forums do. There's nothing overtly sinister about the site, and as far as I know its been active for many years now.

About your Privacy in those forums:

Can't find anything relating to Police records in their FAQ though.

Beyond that, and it being completely unrelated to Apple you would need to contact the forum Admins if you wish to unsubscribe.

Often, pop-ups that may or may not be related to a particular site are sent to you through Ads hosted on the site. The site operator may have no knowledge of what is contained in those Ads.

Some Ads have been known to contain scams such as MacKeeper, or claims to be holding your Mac hostage until you pay a ransom, or claims that your Mac is infected with a Virus.
