How do I get a guitar sound in Logic?

I have tried all the amp sims in Logic, whilst not bad, I cant find a one suitable for me.

I have tried other amp sims too, not good enough.

I use a Marshall JCM 800 2203 100watt amp, this is the sound I need. I have my 4 x 12 left abroad.

Should I buy a 4 x12 and mic it up or get a Palmer speaker simulator? or is there something else I can do?

It sounds like you know what you like and want... so haven't you answered your own question?

You're never going to beat a well mic'ed up amp with a good mic (or 2). I just did a whole rock album and the guitarist used a Boogie Studio 22+ combo for all the guitars and it sounds huge. It's just a matter of perspective and what you like. In that case, he hated 4x12's. Each to their own.

What mic and room did you put your Blackstar in? Just out of curiosity.

One recording I did looked like this:User uploaded file

Ha, this is all very true, good point.

I wish I could use a combo, I have tried M Boogies many years ago and wasn't keen, for me anyway, even the Marshall combos were not suitable.

The only comboI liked was a VOX AC30, but it has to be cranked up too loud for recording where I am.

I will take a look at the Studio 22 combo however!
