Scanning is really just taking a picture. There are apps that will take a picture of something and convert it to a pdf. They include Scannable, ScanBot, Scanner Pro. A quick search of the App Store will probably turn up quite a few more.

Evernote (and Scannable which is owned by Evernote) is my favorite, especially for business cards. Puts them right into my contacts and connects to LinkedIn. Some people think it's overkill but, should they ever go out of business, I will be in serious trouble.
iPhone's don't support scanning.
Take a photo instead.
Thanks
There are MANY third party apps in the App Store that will allow your camera to function like a scanner. None are perfect but some are very, very good.
