How to set up iMessage on a mac

User uploaded fileI have a Macbook Air and I've been trying to setup my iMessage with my iPhone so i can use my laptop to text as well. However, but the above picture remains like this for hours until I cancel it out. Do i need to reset my phone or my laptop? If i do will i lose all my content on my computer ?

MacBook Air, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

It's an extra layer of account security for your Apple ID.


You would have set it up knowingly.


It means in addition to your password, you must enter a 6 digit verification code to access iMessage's set up. that code would come to your trusted device, which is typically your phone.


Can you sign in to appleid.apple.com? You would be prompted for a code for that as well.
