Can I change my icloud email to a gmail?

Hi, i am playing a game and gave my iphone away and I need my account back for the game. Is there a way I can change my icloud account to a gmail account so that i can log into it from google play games?

iPhone 4, iOS 7.1.2

You can try it with the changed address and if it doesn't work, change it back.
