the wired cans are using the device pre-amp, in this case the iPhone. The wireless ones use their own built in pre amp. the louder the pre-amp the more power it requires to work. The limit is the headphones, not anything else. Secondly despite the price point the beats headphones are little more than a fashion gimmick. Headphones for substantially less from Sony, Koss, Siennheiser, and Audio-Technica rate far better sounding, more responsive and far better quality in most if not all reviews.

You are referring to a power amp, not a pre-amp. No, Beats are not little more than a fashion gimmick. The Solo 2's were a great improvement over the first generation, and the 3 with the W1 chipset is even better. The Solo 2 got great reviews from a number of headphone sites and Stereophile magazine. Sony, Koss and Audio Technica should not be in the same sentence with Sennheiser, Grado, and others.

The OP may want to reset the Beats and pair them again, while they will be lower than with a wire they should not be that low.
