Did you already have iCloud backups enabled on your phone? If so, you need to plug it into power and make sure it's connected to WiFi for at least 24 hours... Then cross your fingers. If not, it's too late to set up iCloud backups now.
You cannot upgrade storage for the phone itself. If you are talking about iCloud storage which has nothing at all to do with adding storage to the phone, you can do this on a computer or another iOS device.

When you charge an iPhone / iPad it automatically backs up to iCloud over
Your WiFi when you get your iPhone repaired / replaced set back up over
Your WiFi when it asks if you want to use iCloud back up say yes .

You are posting incorrect information again. This is only true if you have iCloud backups turned on in the settings. I went two years without using iCloud backups. I charge my iOS devices every single night when I get home. For those two years, there were no automatic backups to iCloud because I never had it turned on.
Please think about what you are posting before you hit Reply. You could be leading people to think that all they have to do is plug in their iPhone or iPad into a wall socket to charge and it will backup with iCloud automatically.
