Recording audio using Macbook Air

Hello,

I've got a Macbook Air (13inch, early 2015) and I'm struggling to find any clear detail about how to record audio. Specifically I'd like to connect my mixer so that I can record directly from turntables.

I'm not concerned about software at this stage, but would like to know what cables I need.

My understanding is that there is no direct audio input, not even the headphone jack option - so do I need to somehow use the Thunderbolt 2 port alongside something else?

Any help or signposting would be hugely appreciated.

Thank you!

Thanks for your reply. Just to be clear, would something such as the iRig work for recording audio from a mixer connected to turntables? e.g. http://www.apple.com/shop/product/HJZM2ZM/A/ik-multimedia-irig-pro-universal-aud io-midi-interface-for-iphone-ipad-and-mac?fnode=15603bad22353e45f8020c459cecfb88 1c8dd60abd36f563cf5bb0711d33df9a7d66b89133f3616a284979b6d360b86f965772ff8e37f975 5b56300d098b8f14e15e6eb53058ae6124513602e1e067cad64bd4cd7271e69ef7e0f9b037573aae 82f17f1deea3bf557fb7cf7740e61898&fs=f%3Dmusiccreation%26fh%3D47a4%252B4615

Apologies if this seems so simple, just finding it difficult to find anything that categorically states how to do this.

Cheers,

Shaf
