No.

LIke I stated, if no version older than what is available for current app download exists, then there is nothing you can do.

The developer/s removed all of the more older versions of their apps from Apple's App Store servers.

Not sure what kinda apps you are looking to put on this device, but my guess will be that older versions of games will be an issue/problematic since games are updated to take advantage of better hardware and some of the major game developers may only go back so far with their gaming apps!

If you were looking for more productive apps, your hit to miss ratios maybe higher.

You can try to use iTunes....you connect your ipod to your computer and open iTunes, then try to download apps. If there is a compatible version out there it may download it.

But, I'm sorry to say, your pickings will be pretty slim. The touch 4 is several years old, and as you've found out, 4 iOS updates behind.

Why does everyone forget this other method.

You do not just need to use iTunes any longer.

You can simply tap on an app in the App store you want to download.

If there is an older version of the App, left by the developer on Apple's servers, you will get a pop-up window stating that there is an older version of the app for your device. Would you like to download it now?

Tap OK and the App Store should download the older version to your device.

If there is no older version available, then there is no version of the app for your device and no pop-up window/panel will appear.

Then there is no older version than that for that particular app.

Not every app in the app is going to have older iOS versions still left on Apple's servers.

This is dependent on whether the developer of the app wants to keep their older iOS app versions on Apple's servers.

I have an 2010 1st gen iPad and found well over 100 compatible apps, many that are older working versions of more recent versions apps I, currently, use on newer iDevices.

So, older iOS 6 and earlier apps for your 4th gen iPod Touch do exist, it just maybe not the ones you want to use.

Alright it finally worked with a few games. But with some of them they will download with no problems, then on my home screen when i tap on the app it goes to the loading screen then goes back to my home screen. What does that mean? I have another question i typed in the app store search box Instagram fro ios6 and one pops up. But when i click on it it will start to load then say i need ios 7. Is there a way to manually pick what ios version of the app i want?
