If the number is stored in your contacts, it will show the name instead of the phone number in Messages.
You can see the number by tapping the contact name/photo on the top of message conversation screen.

Try this:
Settings → Messages then down to SMS/MMS category then MMS Messaging. Turn off MMS Messaging then turn it back on.
Although it's not clear at all what the OP is asking with her non-question, I think she's asking about the same issue I'm having. The issue is that in Messages, all of my texts are showing the phone number of the person instead of the name as it should. All of these people are in my Contacts.
Does anybody know how to fix this?
Awesome!
Glad it worked!
Not sure why it helped, it probably initiates somehow the cross-referencing of the contacts data base with the other iCloud apps.
Well this is very strange. Even though the problem was happening on my Mac, I followed your suggestion on my iPhone (because of course I can't do that on my Mac) and it fixed the problem on my Mac.
First, thank you and second, why did that work?
Hi
To see a sender's name, create a single contact card (remove any duplicates) for that person in the Contacts app on your iPhone, including their full name and phone number.
Are these number in your contacts?
Yes they are, Saifan.
