Photos stored on iPhone 7 help!

Please could someone advise on an issue i have with my iPhone 7.

I have set my iPhone up as a new phone, when checking my storage it says 29gb is being taken up by photos.

I have iCloud set up with optimise storage. when i connect iPhone to photos on macbook, it shows nearly 2000 photos as already imported which look to me like they are being stored on the phone itself.

How can i remove these images as they are taking up space on my phone?

Thanks

Mike

Hi FoxFifth,

Thanks for this but i already have optimize storage selected and it works fine as previously mentioned but for some reason it won't shift these particular photos which are being stored.

There not even photos which have been taken on my iPhone which confuses me further its almost like the phone has downloaded them from the cloud

iCloud Photo Library is designed to sync all of your photos to all of your devices where iCloud Photo Library is turned on. If you delete a photo from the phone it will also be deleted from iCloud and from any other device connected to that iCloud Photo Library. If your phone is low on space, the Optimize Storage option will automatically replace full-resolution photos with smaller optimized versions. More information: iCloud Photo Library - Apple Support

Not an issue. It works exactly as designed.

Don't use iCloud. Import them to your Macbook then remove them from the phone.

You may need to read my previous post again. Optimize doesn't change the fact that iCloud Photo Library is designed to sync all of your photos to all devices where iCloud Photo Library is turned on. All Optimize does is (potentially) reduce the space that those photos require by storing smaller ("optimized") versions on the device where that option is turned on.
