All my folders went missing from desktop (Macbook air)

Hi people...Does someone can help me? I'm kinda new with macbook.

Two days ago, I had all my folders and important documents in my desktop...Today, my desktop have no folder at all...I have done nothing on my macbook air other but shut it off and start it up. I've tried everything I found on internet to get them back, but no luck (I could not find them using FINDER or spotlight, tried to unhide hidden archives, tried to check updates using TIME MACHINE). I've never done a backup before, so, you guys can imagine how desperate I am.

Please, help me if you have any clue where my documents/folders can be.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.

I see that all of your folders and important documents on your Desktop are missing. I'm happy to assist you with trying to get these back.

Have you recently enabled iCloud Drive? Go to Apple menu > System Preferences > iCloud > Select Options next to iCloud Drive > Check (enable) Desktop & Documents Folders.

Doing this should show the files on your Desktop again. You can also check the Desktop folder in the iCloud Drive section of your Finder Sidebar.

Hi Brenden dv,

Thanks for your help...However, my iCloud drive was already enabled when I checked as you suggested. What I recall that happened at the same day my documents and folders went missing was turnning on my ipad and having answered one of iCloud messages on it as yes, but I do not remember which kind of question was it...Do you think that iCloud could have deleted my folders in my macbook just for answering "yes" on my ipad?

iCloud on your iPad shouldn't have caused this to happen. Since you are still having this issue, we would like you to contact Apple Support.
