How to remove shows from the up next list

I have been watching show "A" until it ran out of episodes. At the end of the last episode, it started playing show"B" which I have no interest in. Now show "B" always appears at the beginning of "Up Next". Very annoying. I tried looking for a way to remove the show, and tried playing it to the end, but now it just shows the next in the series. this show is on the CW app and does not have controls for adding/removing. Is there any way to control what is in this list Besides manually searching and adding, and (trying futilely) to remove things from it?

i Like the idea of having all my shows in this list but I want more control over things I don't want to see too.

AppleTV 2, tvOS 10

You have to go into the TV app first. Long press does not seem to work on the home screen (where the Up Next shows are listed at the top when you have the TV app highlighted). You have to go into the TV app, then move over to the show you want to remove and long press the Touch surface there. Then you'll get the menu options to remove it.

Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for the reply, but I had already knew all that. (I guess that as a long time technogeek and former complex software support person I should always state that I have exhaustively RTFM before posting.

Specifically addressing your bullets:

1. Bullet one is not an acceptable solution. I want to use "What's Next".

2. Bullet 2 does not work for some apps, like "The CW". I don't know if they haven't gotten fully on board or what, but once you have (in my case inadvertently) watched one of their shows, it ends up front and center of your "What's Next" forevermore if all you have is Apple TV.

3. I also found clearing the "What's Next" queue completely works, but, then it loses my place in all the series I watch and it is work to reconstruct it add back to the shows I want. I did this and had it how I wanted it, and ****** if I didn't let the CW play into the next unrelated show again and now that unwanted show is first on my "What's Next" list.

I'm wondering if anyone at Apple did any field testing with customers before release or the TV app. Like over a period of a few weeks to find out what they wanted, or just assumed that they knew My experience with developers is usually the latter.

What I really want is a "My Queue" list that I can add/subtract/rearrange that keeps up with my last viewed and pops shows to the front when new content is available. That would be perfect.

Hi bbeebe,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. If you are having issues removing the content from a specific app in the Up Next list in the TV app on your Apple TV, you may find the information and steps outlined in the following article helpful:

Change your settings

On your Apple TV, go to Settings > Apps > TV. On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > TV. Then you can adjust these settings:

  • Turn Up Next on or off: If you don't want to display the viewing history in the TV app on your device—past or future—turn off Up Next. When you turn off Up Next on your device, the setting turns off only on that device, and your viewing information won’t sync to your other devices anymore (until you turn Up Next back on).
  • Remove content from certain apps: To remove an app's past or future content from the TV app, select the app that you want to clear. Then choose Remove or Remove and Clear Play History.4
  • Clear viewing history: To remove your viewing history from the TV app, select Clear Play History.4

Use the TV app on your Apple TV (4th generation), iPhone, and iPad - Apple Support

Regards.
