Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50 RAW

Anyone know the right hack to the raw.plist file, and how to apply it properly in order to get FZ50's RAW files to work with Aperture?

I've tried what I found for the LX1 and what I've learned of making other cameras work. But, the closest I've come is to get my pictures to open and look HORRIBLY distorted.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You have to put an entry in Raw.plist and then use Adobe's DNG converter to convert the RAW files to DNG.

I've read the post above & I've opened my RAW.plist. I have no idea where to paste a line for the DMC-FZ50. What exactly do I paste & where do I paste it? Thank you.

It doesn't matter where, but I'd recommend putting it near the entry you're using. So, for example:

<key>Panasonic-DMC-FZ50</key> <string>Panasonic-DMC-LC1</string> <!-- map DMC-FZ50 to DMC-LC1 -->

Put that right above the DMC-LC1, for example (just like the Leica Digilux 2 entry is). The format of the key entry is "Camera Make"-"Camera Model" from the EXIF.

Also note the color adjustment info won't match up exactly for your camera, so you might want to try the different supported Panasonic models to see what looks best (before the 10.4.9 update the LC1 was the only model supported).

And finally, make sure and backup your Raw.plist in case something goes horribly wrong.

Kevin - Thank you, but this is all baffling to me. I have the Property List Editor open showing the Raw.plist. I dumped it and am looking at a section:
</dict>
<key>Panasonic-DMC-LC1</key>
<dict>

Do I paste, <key>Panasonic-DMC-FZ50</key> <string>Panasonic-DMC-LC1</string> <!-- map DMC-FZ50 to DMC-LC1 --> , above that?

Something tells me there are more steps involved. Do you mind helping me work through this?

Thanks - Fabe

Ah, I've been using a text editor.

Using the Property List Editor, do "New Sibling", change the "New Item" text to "Panasonic-DMC-FZ50", hit tab and then find it in the list (it gets sorted). Then make sure the Class is set to String and double-click on the value section and enter "Panasonic-DMC-LC1" (or whichever you choose). Then save it and it should be all set.

Again, make sure you keep an original copy. (I think it's safer to use a text editor, it will preserve the comments and stuff inside the file.)

That looks right, but you need to convert your RAW photos to DNG. This doesn't give full RAW support, just lets the system recognize the DNG for the camera.

Use Adobe's DNG Converter. It can be found at http://www.adobe.com/products/dng/index.html. The recommended settings are:

No JPEG preview
Compressed (lossless)
Preserve RAW Image
Don't embed original
