iPad Pro Not Receiving SMS Messages

I've exhausted every option I can think of, so now I'll come here and ask for help.

My new iPad Pro can send/receive iMessages, but it doesn't receive forwarded SMS (text) messages from my iPhone 6S. This worked perfectly with my old iPad Air (and still does) but SMSs are not appearing on my new device. I have two-step verification enabled so I didn't receive a code for forwarding set-up, all devices are connected to the same wifi network and signed into my apple ID, iCloud features all working as they should ... but SMSs don't appear "forwarded" on my new iPad Pro.

I've even:

1. restarted my phone and iPad,

2. toggled off iMessages on my iPad and removed it from forwarding on my iPhone (and re-enabled it)

3. tested iMessages between myself and my neighbour (different wifi networks obviously) and that works fine,

4. waited a few hours, had a cup of tea, walked the dog ... and still the same thing. No SMS (text) messages are being forwarded from my iPhone to my iPad Pro (but they do arrive on my old iPad Air).

5. Double-checked settings on old iPad Air against new iPad Pro, and they're the same.

Can anyone help me with this please? Many thanks in advance!

You may need to log out of iCloud for the connection to be made. Try turning it off and setting it up again.

Hi lorene7. Have you tried resetting your Continuity settings, as already suggested. You may need to log out, then back in, for things to be reset.

Thank you for your help. Without understanding the word “continuity” and what that might mean to my Ipad Pro, after checking - everything was property connected. Some messages are sent to my ipad pro but all are logged in my iphone. I, again, had an ipad air and it worked flawlessly between devices with all my contacts.

I have already been to my local tech support and the problem has not been resolved. Would sure like to hear how this could be resolved.

Thanks, Diana. I've read that article, double-checked all the settings that it suggests, and all looks as it should. I'm not sure what you mean by "updating continuity settings". There's no update or refresh option. Interestingly I can't turn off the little slider buttons in Text Message Forwarding for devices signed into iMessage acct. I think this is because of two-factor authentication because if I sign out of iCloud on my iPad, that device disappears on my iPhone. When I sign back into iCloud, the device shows up again under Forwarding.

I'm not sure what else to do.

I meant that recent iOS updates seem to have broken previously working setups like yours, so that re-doing the setup process may be needed to get things back to working. But you say you've done that, so not mich else to do.
