Can't Add iTunes Credit

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to use my credit card to add iTunes credit to my account, and it's not working. Instructions on the internet have said to tap on my ID name at the bottom of the app store on my iPod touch, tap View, then tap on an edit button and there will be an option to add money. No option to add money appears for me! A different set of instructions said to edit the payment information in iTunes on my Windows computer and there's a Continue button there, but I have a Done button instead.

Am I doing something wrong? Does my balance have to be $0 before I can add more? I'm trying to make an in-app purchase for a timed event that ends in three hours, so I'm rather stressed out about this!

I have an iPod touch generation 5 running iOS 9.

You can't add money to your account, you can only add a credit card to be used for payment. If you want to add money you need to either buy a gift card and redeem it or:
