locked out of MacBook Air

Hi

I have a friend who was the victim of the dark side of Apple's security measures. Someone gained access to her Apple ID, and locked her out of all devices. The person attempted ransoming her data. She refused to pay.

She lost everything on her iPhone and iPad. She has a MacBook Air, same scenario, locked out. Is there no way for her to get her data? No backup, sadly. No secondary user account.

Let this be a reminder to all reading this. Have your data backed up. And I always create a second admin account not tied to an apple id.

If this is the Firmware Password and not FV encryption, then see

Forgotten Firmware Password

If you lost or forgot your firmware password - Apple Support.

If you forgot your firmware password, schedule an appointment with an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. If you plan to visit an Apple Retail Store then make an appointment at the Apple Genius Bar for service. If needed find an Apple Store - Find a Store - Apple
