Calendar sync with Google is painfully slow

For now I have been using the Readdle Calendar app. I would switch back to the base Calendar app if I could solve this gripe. To wit, Calendar sync with the Google calendar is painfully slow.

My Calendar account is set up purely through Gmail and nowhere else. Push. (The two reasons are that my wife and I don't want to blend our calendars and also iCloud sync fails to pick up *all* "events from contacts" such as anniversaries.)

When I update the calendar (either the base Calendar app or Readdle) the update is reflected just about immediately online at the Google Calendar site. This includes adding, modifying, or deleting.

However, while the sync appears within a few minutes on Readdle, it may take up to two days to show up in the base Calendar app. To "force" the base Calendar app to refresh, I've tried opening up "Calendars", pulling down. Then I tried opening up *Mail* and pulling down. Then I tried double-Home, swipe Calendar up and out, and restart. Finally, I even tried hard core: double-Home, swipe *all* apps up and out, then reset (hold Off and press Home until Apple appears, sign on again) and start the Calendar app.

I'm out of troubleshooting steps. Got another I can write down for future reference to make the base Calendar app sync more quickly with my Gmail account?

Thank you for your kind reply. Yes, I had considered that app. And I suspect you must be correct about its ability to load quickly and to sync quickly with the Google Calendar. Unfortunately, it is not to my taste as I am not a fan of the cute little pictures Google has chosen to pop in to the display of individual events (though I am aware some like them or at least willing to tolerate them). So I remain on the fence between Apple and Readdle. Groan!

...Later. I decided to go the way I've seen advised in other posts here in "discussions". That being, ignore the Gmail Calendar "Events from Contacts", use "Birthdays", and add "Events" for all those other special days (anniversaries, etc.). Propagating manually into the past as appropriate. IOW I'm using the iOS Calendar app: the only one with a day/date icon. (For unique custom event repetition, of course, I'll have to rely on my laptop Calendar.) End of story.
