detach audio from video in iMovie/delete video

I am working on an audio only story for a school project. I have imported the video/audio into iMovie and I have detached the audio from the video. I am trying to delete the video so that only the audio is left but when I try to delete the video, the audio is deleted too. Suggestions?

Hi,

Deleting a video clip deletes all audio that is attached to it in the timeline. With your cursor, slowly pull the audio down as low as you can beneath the main time line, until it detaches from the video. You can see the little connector pull away from the video. Then you can delete the video.
