32 GB ram in Mac Mini late 2012 if only Apple would do a firmware update!!

The Intel processor can manage 32 GB of ram as stated in the following specs: http://ark.intel.com/compare/67355,65709,64891

The problem is that Apple would only need to make a firmware update (MRC Memory Reference Code) to alter the software to recognize the amount of ram installed.

As the Mac mini only has 2 slots one must use SO-DIMM with 16 GB on each slot as in: http://www.intelligentmemory.com/dram-modules/ddr3-so-dimm/

A radar has been filed to get those Mac minis to support 32GB:

But still nothing has happened!

Please share this with employees and others in contact with Apple-

Cheers!

Openradar is not where Apple follows stuff.

If you want to get Apple to consider making a firmware:

1. Go work for them. http://www.apple.com/jobs/

2. Or get a free online developer account at http://developer.apple.com/

and submit a bug report http://bugreporter.apple.com/

Occasionally some high quality RAM vendors may support more RAM than Apple does officially. This is not the case that I can find on http://www.macsales.com/

Other RAM vendors to look at are

Lifetimemory, Macramdirect, Memoryx.net, The Chip Merchant, EDGE Apple Memory, Kingston (avoid Value RAM, but other versions OK), RAM Jet.

Be sure to look in each late 2012 Mac Mini RAM, and not the RAM labelled: 1600 Mhz PC3-12800 DDR3 SO-Dimm without any indication of it being for Late 2012 Mac Mini.

No one here can do any more than you can. In addition to the a. brody's suggestions, you can use the feedback page:

Hello!

I know that regarding radar, it was only to inform about the bug (report nb. 23869832) reported to Apple by Fraser Hess already in dec 2015...

About the vendor of RAM: Thank you for your suggestions but I wasn't asking for vendors, there are several with 16GB on each slot e.g https://www.amazon.com/dp/B011ISG132/ref=cm_sw_su_dp?tag=bgsco-20

Why I was hoping that someone with connections to Apple would consider taking this to Apple is because they still doesn't offer 32GB option on their new Mac Minis...

Cheers!

the price of making a new release is pretty big tons of testing that the new stuff don't case a problem in some other areas or configuration, would cost then min 1million dollars in on going maintenance and testing from q&a with various configurations with modules of one brand or mixed or with configurations with much less memory

and the return of investment would be good will from a select few which would wish to upgrade such an old model beyond what it was at first made to be. and if it were then to make precedence they would have to pay to move on updating newer models too
