Transfering Firefox Passwords

Hello: I realize this is not a Firefox community, but I have received excellent replies in the past, so I thought I try.

I did a refresh of Firefox and lost all my passwords on my desktop. I have tried to transfer my passwords from the

Firefox I have on my EHD. The FF version is 50.1.0 on the EHD and 51.1.1 on my desktop.

I boot to my EHD and open the FF profile and I copy the entire contents of my FF profile onto a SanDisk. Then I

re-boot to my desktop and open my FF profile> I then delete the contents of my profile folder and then past the

contents from the San Disk into my FF profile desktop folder.

But none of my passwords that were on the EHD get transferred into the desktop FF. All other settings do get transferred - but not my passwords.

Can anyone advise me on this?

I have read several articles on transferring passwords from an old profile folder to a new profile folder and I have made several attempts but still no passwords show up after the transfer attempt.

Thank you for your reply & the link.

I had installed the Password-Exporter on both the FF I have on the EHD and the FF on the DT. I used the Password

Exporter on the EHD and it did export over 300 passwords, I'm not sure where the passwords are/were exported to.

When I rebooted to the DT and tried doing the import with the Password Exporter in FF on the DT nothing happened.

I think the problem may be that I'm going back & fourth between two different systems the EHD and the DT.

What I do not understand is that when I make a copy of my FF profiles folder from the EHD (which has all my passwords) and then after a reboot from the EHD to the DT and past the contents - none of the passwords are there.

Is there something that takes place in the cut & past transfer that eliminates the passwords from getting transferred.
