iPhone making screeching noise in earphones?

So, I was just using my phone like normal, trying to make a voice recording, and I plugged in my headphones and heard this awful screeching sound for a second. I thought nothing of it, but then it wouldn't let me record anything anymore. It wasn't picking up my voice or any sounds. So I unplugged my headphones and tried fiddling with the volume and sure enough, it said my headphones were still plugged in. (This has happened so many times so I know the fix is to blow air in the headphone jack and plug in and unplug your headphones a few times, as usually the problem is there is something in the headphone jack.) I tried fixing it a couple times and it wasn't working at all. I then plugged my headphones in and played some music and discovered that any time I play sound, it makes an extremely loud screeching noise now in my headphones. Even as I type this I can hear it and the headphones are sitting in my lap. I really don't have time to go to the Apple Store tomorrow and I obviously can't call Apple support seeing as my sound doesn't work at all. I am very frustrated and open to suggestions. I found next to nothing on google. Please help.
